Objectives of the Course

This course aims to enable students to recognize national and international documents used in foreign trade transactions, to learn the preparation, control, and usage processes of these documents, and to manage documents correctly and effectively in import, export, and transit operations. It contributes to graduates gaining competence in document management in foreign trade and logistics sectors.

Course Content

The course covers fundamental foreign trade documents (commercial invoice, bill of lading, insurance policy, certificate of origin, EUR.1, ATR, packing list etc.), customs declaration, international standards (Incoterms, UCP 600), electronic documents, document flow processes, effects of faulty documents, and digital foreign trade applications. Practical document preparation and case studies are emphasized.

1.Defines and classifies the basic documents used in foreign trade.
2.Explains commercial, transportation and insurance documents and prepares samples.
3.Applies certificates of origin, EUR.1, ATR and preferential trade documents.
4.Analyzes document preparation and responsibilities according to Incoterms rules.
5.Fills out the customs declaration and related customs documents.
6.Uses electronic foreign trade documents and digital platforms.
7.Identifies common errors in documents and applies correction methods.
8.Manages document flows in realistic import-export scenarios.
