The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of the legal structure of the energy market and the duties and powers of regulatory bodies; to enable students to analyze legal processes related to energy production, transmission, distribution, and consumption; and to develop the competence to interpret current regulations in the energy sector.
This course covers the following topics: the legal and institutional structure of the Turkish energy market, the Electricity Market Law No. 6446 and related secondary legislation, licensed and unlicensed electricity production processes, legal regulations regarding renewable energy sources (YEKDEM mechanism), permit, license and connection processes in production facilities, EIA applications and environmental legislation, energy efficiency regulations, and technical and legal obligations related to the electricity transmission and distribution system.
