Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to recognize emergencies that may be encountered in individuals receiving home care services and in daily life, to properly assess the scene, and to learn basic first aid approaches at a theoretical level that can be applied until healthcare professionals arrive. The course aims to ensure that students know the correct intervention steps while considering patient and injured person safety, can act calmly and consciously in emergencies, and possess basic first aid knowledge that supports patient safety in a home care setting. In this context, the course aims to raise students' awareness of assessing the physiological condition of individuals requiring home care, identifying their care needs, and creating a safe care environment.

Course Content

Basic application of first aid, First and second assessment, Basic life support on adults, Basic life support on children and babies, First aid at respiratory tract occlusion, External and internal bleeding Scar and variety of scar, First aid at local injuries, head and spine fractures, First aid at upper extremity fractures,dislocations and sprains, First aid at hip and lower extremity fractures, dislocations and sprains First aid at requiring emergency care disease, Poisoning, heat-stroke, burnt and freezing, First aid at taking foreign body

Learning Outcomes
1.It explains the definition, purpose, and basic principles of first aid.
2.It assesses crime scene safety and identifies safe approach steps in emergency situations.
3.It describes the basic steps in assessing a sick or injured person (consciousness, breathing, circulation, etc.).
4.It lists the theoretical steps of basic life support.
5.This section describes basic first aid approaches that can be applied in common emergencies such as bleeding, injury, burns, fractures, and poisoning.
