Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to teach the basic concepts, principles and rules of body mechanics, to explain biomechanics and movement principles, to understand the effects of inactivity and improper body use on the organism, to teach correct body mechanics and ergonomics for healthcare personnel, and to gain the ability to apply correct body mechanics during patient handling, lifting and working activities.

Course Content

Definition of body mechanics, basic concepts and rules, biomechanics, principles of movement, balance and movement in the human body, effects of inactivity on the organism, body mechanics in healthcare personnel, back health, ergonomics, working environment, patient lifting and transfer principles.
