Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with up-to-date theoretical knowledge regarding the assessment of postoperative complications, nutrition in surgical patients, laparoscopic surgery, and basic surgical interventions for various body systems; and to develop the professional knowledge and awareness necessary to evaluate surgical practices in the context of patient safety, complication prevention, and the fundamental principles of operating room services.

Course Content

This course covers early and late postoperative complications, nutrition in surgical patients, laparoscopic surgical procedures, and surgical interventions targeting the cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, and musculoskeletal systems, as well as the associated care processes.

Learning Outcomes
1.Evaluates early and late postoperative complications in conjunction with clinical findings and takes appropriate measures to prevent them.
2.It explains the principles of nutrition in surgical patients, as well as the fundamental characteristics, advantages, and application areas of laparoscopic surgery.
3.It explains the fundamental surgical procedures performed for cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and musculoskeletal system diseases in terms of their indications and key characteristics.
4.Compares and distinguishes system-specific surgical interventions in terms of their purpose of application, surgical approach, and potential complications.
5.During surgical procedures, and in line with patient safety principles, the operating room team member carries out their professional duties, authority, and responsibilities in accordance with ethical principles.
