Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to develop students' skills in accurately pronouncing, comprehending, and utilizing national and international vocational terms used in the fields of hair care, beauty services, cosmetology, and basic medical sciences (anatomy, physiology, dermatology). The course aims to provide students with the terminological infrastructure required in sectoral communication, product ingredient analysis, and customer relations, in line with international standards.

Course Content

This course covers vocational terms and their equivalents in foreign languages (especially English and Latin) frequently encountered in cosmetic science, hair and skin care, epilation, makeup, and hand-foot care applications. Additionally, the core content of the course comprises basic medical terminology related to human anatomy, physiology, common dermatological diseases, and hair pathologies, as well as international literature and current cosmetic regulation terminology.

1.Defines the basic national and international concepts and the importance of terminology in the field of hair care and beauty services.
2.Utilizes technical terms belonging to cosmetic product ingredients, applications, and salon management accurately and appropriately.
3.Pronounces and explains basic medical terms related to human anatomy, physiology, and the integumentary system accurately.
4.Classifies pathological terms related to frequently encountered skin, hair, and nail diseases.
5.Analyzes sectoral and medical concepts in foreign languages (English/Latin) at a level to follow professional literature and integrates them into professional communication processes.

Core terms used in hair care, hair cutting, coloring, and styling.

Terms used in skin care, skin types, analysis, and basic skin care protocols.
Week 4 - Theoretical
Terms used in epilation and depilation methods, equipment, and applications.
Week 5 - Theoretical
Terms related to body care, massage techniques, body analysis, and regional slimming applications.
Week 6 - Theoretical
Terms regarding cosmetic product formulations, raw ingredients, active agents, and product types.
Week 7 - Theoretical
Terms related to professional makeup, camouflage makeup, color theory, and makeup equipment.
Week 8 - Theoretical
Terms belonging to hand and foot care, manicure-pedicure, nail anatomy, and artificial nail applications.
Week 9 - Theoretical
Terms for salon management, hygiene and sanitation, occupational health and safety, and professional ethics.
Week 10 - Theoretical
Introduction to basic anatomy and physiology terminology: Locomotor, circulatory, and nervous system terms.
Week 11 - Theoretical
Medical terms related to the anatomy, histology, and physiology of the integumentary system (skin and its appendages).
Week 12 - Theoretical
Medical terms related to dermatological diseases, skin lesions, and skin pathologies.
Week 13 - Theoretical
Medical terms related to hair and scalp diseases, types of alopecia, and the field of trichology.
