Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to teach students the scientific foundations of light and color theory, providing them with the ability to evaluate the interaction of these principles with cosmetic applications and visual media (photography and stage) through an analytical approach. It aims to enable students to predict the visual and physical reactions of colored cosmetics under various light sources (indoor/outdoor), camera lenses, and optical filters, and to make professional product selections appropriate for the environment and purpose. Furthermore, it aims for students to attain competence in visual perception and analysis by combining basic photography rules with aesthetic compositions.

Course Content

This course covers the fundamental principles of light and color theory, along with indoor and outdoor lighting concepts. Within the framework of the curriculum, the behavior of colored cosmetic products under different light types and camera filters, as well as the optical characteristics of technical equipment used in stage and lens makeup, are examined in detail. In addition, basic photography knowledge, optical hardware, the relationship between light and composition, and visual literacy are discussed; the educational process is supported by visual inspection, professional interpretation, and practical applications.
