Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to provide students with the historical development of hair coloring processes, color theory, and the physicochemical effects of hair dyes on the hair shaft on a scientific basis. It aims to enable students to accurately analyze color charts, determine the appropriate formulation according to the structural condition of the hair, execute hair coloring procedural steps in accordance with occupational health and safety standards, and attain the competence to perform professional-level hair coloring processes by solving problems encountered during application with an analytical approach.

Course Content

This course covers the purpose and history of hair coloring and the fundamental principles of color theory. Within the framework of the curriculum, reading color charts, the physicochemical effects of the chemical contents of hair dyes on the tissue, rules to be considered during application (situations not to be done/contraindications), and technical tools and equipment used in the coloring process are examined. The theoretical foundation is transformed into professional skill by being supported by a wide range of hair coloring practices and the scientific evaluation of potential situations, errors, and results encountered during these applications.
