Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to provide students with the theoretical foundation and professional practical application skills of basic make-up. Within the scope of the course, it aims for students to comprehend head/facial anatomy, morphological face shapes, and light-color theory to flawlessly execute base (complexion), day, night, camouflage (concealing), and corrective (contouring) make-up applications using the correct cosmetic products and brush techniques. Additionally, by blending avant-garde and vintage make-up styles with eyebrow-eyelash shaping techniques, the course aims to train competent specialists capable of generating holistic designs tailored to client needs in line with the current aesthetic and technical standards of the beauty industry.

Face anatomy, colors and light, make-up application

Learning Outcomes
1.Defines head and facial anatomy; morphologically analyzes different face shapes and explains the principles of balancing facial features toward ideal proportions.
2.Evaluates the optical effects of light and color theory on cosmetic applications; selects make-up tools and cosmetic products according to their structures and implements disinfection protocols.
3.Detects skin reactions, product separation, and asymmetry problems that may be encountered during make-up application and develops appropriate solutions; flawlessly applies base (complexion) make-up suitable for the skin type.
4.Executes day and night make-up techniques suitable for natural and artificial light environments; resizes features and conceals facial imperfections using medical camouflage and contouring (light-shadow) methods.
5.Designs and applies artistic/thematic avant-garde make-up concepts and characteristic vintage make-up styles belonging to historical periods in accordance with originality and aesthetic standards.
6.Performs eyebrow design suitable for the morphological structure of the face; applies different types of false eyelashes and application techniques to complement the holistic make-up design.

Week 1 - Theoretical
Head and Facial Anatomy (Bone structure, muscle groups, facial landmarks, and anatomical basis for make-up brush orientations).
Week 2 - Theoretical
Face Shapes and Morphological Analysis (Characteristics of oval, round, square, heart, oblong, and triangular face types; principles of balancing toward the ideal facial form).
Week 3 - Theoretical
Light and Color Theory in Make-up (Effects of artificial and natural light on make-up, the color wheel, warm-cool tones, and skin undertone analysis).
Week 4 - Theoretical
Cosmetic Products Used in Basic Make-up (Chemical structures and skin-type selection of primers, foundations, concealers, powders, eyeshadows, blushes, and lipsticks).
Week 5 - Theoretical
Tools and Equipment Used in Basic Make-up (Brush types, sponges, applicators, eyelash curlers; cleaning, disinfection, and preservation standards).
Week 6 - Theoretical
Problems Encountered in Basic Make-up Applications and Their Solutions (Skin reactions, product separation, color disparities, asymmetry issues, and emergency corrections).
Week 7 - Theoretical & Practice
Basic Complexion (Base) Make-up (Skin cleansing and moisturizing, color correcting, foundation setting, and transparent powder applications).
Week 8 - Theoretical & Practice
Day Make-up (Soft shading suitable for natural light, nude lips, and subtle eye make-up techniques).
Week 9 - Theoretical & Practice
Night Make-up (Intense shading suitable for artificial light and flash photography, pigment utilization, and longevity enhancement techniques).
Week 10 - Theoretical & Practice
Camouflage (Concealing) Make-up (Concealing acne scars, blemishes, vitiligo, tattoos, scars, and dark under-eye circles using professional heavy-duty/medical camouflage products).
Week 11 - Theoretical & Practice
Corrective and Contouring Make-up (Reshaping facial features using shadow and light [contour & highlight], techniques for nose, jaw, and forehead slimming or highlighting).
Week 12 - Theoretical & Practice
Avant-Garde Make-up Designs (Artistic, thematic, unconventional runway, and stage make-up concepts).
Week 13 - Theoretical & Practice
Vintage Make-up Styles (Reproduction of iconic hair-makeup harmony and characteristic styles from the 1920s to the 1980s).
Week 14 - Theoretical & Practice
Eyebrow and Eyelash Shaping Practices (Eyebrow design according to face shape, utilization of brow powder/pomade, types of false eyelashes, and strip/individual eyelash application techniques).
