Objectives of the Course

The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge of skin physiology, wound formation, wound classification, and the wound healing process. The course also aims to help students explain care principles for chronic wounds, diabetic wounds, and pressure injuries, and to recognize wound closure methods, wound healing support methods, and current wound care approaches.

Course Content

This course covers skin physiology, definition and classification of wounds, wound healing processes, infections in chronic wounds, diabetic wounds, pressure injuries, formation and prevention of bedsores, permanent and temporary wound closure methods, wound healing support methods, and current wound care approaches.

Learning Outcomes
1.Explains the physiology of the skin, the definition of wounds, and wound classification.
2.Explains the wound healing process and the factors that cause infection development in chronic wounds.
3.Explains the causes, characteristics, and prevention principles of diabetic wounds, pressure injuries, and bedsores.
4.Explains wound closure methods and care approaches that support wound healing.
5.Evaluates current methods in wound care and recommends basic care approaches appropriate to the wound type.
