It aims to convey the fundamental concepts used in the field of health psychology. The course aims to examine, through research conducted in the field of health psychology, behaviors that threaten health, the effects of stress on illness, ways to adapt to chronic illnesses, and strategies for coping with terminal illnesses.
The aim of this course is to introduce students to concepts such as illness, coping with illness, quality of life, and health behaviors—which are central topics in health psychology—as well as the research methods commonly used in the field of health psychology.
| 1. | Defines and explains the basic concepts, theories, and approaches in psychology (behavioral, biological, cognitive, evolutionary, social, developmental, statistical, humanistic, psychodynamic, and sociocultural). |
| 2. | Explains and compares and evaluates the basic concepts, theories and methods used in each subfield. |
| 3. | Defines the basic measurement and evaluation tools used in different subfields of psychology (clinical, developmental, cognitive, social, industrial-organizational, educational, neuropsychology, etc.) and explains their purposes. |
| 4. | Defines the basic disciplines with which psychology interacts (medicine, biology, sociology, anthropology, education, philosophy, neuroscience, statistics, etc.) and explains the contributions of these disciplines to psychology. |
| 5. | Analyses the position of psychology as a scientific discipline in Turkey, the research, practices and problems encountered in the field of psychology from past to present. |
