The objective of this course is to enable students to learn the basic concepts, functions, and fundamental principles of insurance, as well as the insurance system and the key documents and processes used in the insurance industry; and to equip them with the ability to interpret basic insurance practices by recognizing different types of insurance and to evaluate the fundamental insurance transactions they may encounter in their professional lives.
This course covers the basic concepts of insurance, its historical development, economic and social functions, the concept of risk and risk management, the fundamental principles of insurance, the parties to an insurance contract, and the basic documents used in insurance transactions. In addition, the course examines types of insurance, insurance agents, the reinsurance system, and the structure and basic operations of the Turkish insurance sector; it also includes case studies and current industry practices to help students evaluate the fundamental applications they may encounter in the field of insurance.
