The objective of this course is to introduce students to the fundamental concepts, systematics, and sources of law, and to help them comprehend the place and importance of law among the rules regulating social life. Furthermore, it aims to introduce core legal concepts required in the finance, banking, and insurance sectors—such as rights, obligations, liability, personality, contracts, and property—thereby enabling students to approach situations they will encounter in their professional lives with a basic legal perspective.
Rules of social order and law; sources and application of law; branches of law (Public Law, Private Law, and Mixed Law branches); the concept of rights, types of rights, acquisition, loss, and protection of rights; concepts of legal events, legal acts, and legal transactions; the concept of personality, real persons and legal entities, capacities (legal capacity and capacity to act); fundamental elements of liability and obligation relations; state organs and the judicial organization.

| 1. | To be able to explain the place and function of law within social order rules and the core sources of law. |
| 2. | To be able to distinguish between branches of public and private law, and define the main characteristics of law branches relevant to finance and banking. |

| 4. | To be able to interpret the legal structures of real persons and legal entities, the capacity to hold rights and act, and the conditions for restricting these capacities. |

| 8. | To be able to explain the Turkish judicial organization, types of courts, and the primary judicial authorities to appeal to in financial disputes. |
| 9. | To be able to explain the judge's discretionary power by distinguishing the types of gaps (statutory gaps and legal gaps) in the interpretation and application of legal rules. |
| 10. | To be able to define the tax duties, financial powers of the state, and the effects of administrative sanctions on financial institutions within the scope of public law. |
| 11. | To be able to comprehend the basic operating mechanism of enforcement and bankruptcy law, which is activated in case of non-performance of debts in banking and commercial life. |
