Objectives of the Course

The main objectives of this course, which teaches the fundamentals of technical analysis of capital market instruments, are: to be able to read the financial statements (balance sheets and income statements) of companies listed on the stock exchange; to determine which financial instruments are undervalued and which stocks are overvalued; to calculate the intrinsic values of financial instruments; and to know when to buy and sell any financial instrument with a price (gold, foreign exchange, stocks, cryptocurrencies, etc.). The course also aims to provide detailed and essential information on trends, support/resistance levels, chart patterns, and technical indicators.

Course Content

This course comprehensively covers both fundamental and technical analysis methods with the aim of enabling students to accurately interpret the financial statements of publicly traded companies and determine the intrinsic values of financial instruments. The course content begins by examining macroeconomic, sectoral, and company-level developments using a deductive approach; liquidity, operating, profitability, and financial ratios are analyzed through practical applications to measure companies’ financial soundness. While the use of ratios such as P/E and P/B is taught in the context of corporate valuation processes, the technical analysis component focuses on the principles of the Dow Theory, bear and bull market cycles, and trend following. Additionally, to enable accurate timing of buy and sell decisions across all price-sensitive instruments—such as gold, foreign exchange, stocks, and cryptocurrencies—line, candlestick, and bar chart types, support and resistance concepts, stop-loss applications for risk management, chart patterns, and technical indicators are covered in detail using practical examples.
