The objective of this course is to introduce students to the fundamental principles, concepts, and legal legislation of negotiable instruments law. Furthermore, it aims to prepare students for professional life by providing theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the definition, essential elements, transfer methods (endorsement), payment, protest procedures, and rights and responsibilities arising from bills of exchange (bills of exchange, promissory notes, cheques) which are extensively used in cash flows and credit operations within the finance and banking sectors.
Concept, definition, characteristics, and classification of negotiable instruments; defenses in negotiable instruments; loss and cancellation of negotiable instruments; general characteristics of bills of exchange; concept of promissory note, compulsory elements, endorsement, payment, and enforcement; concept, acceptance, and functioning of bill of exchange; concept of cheque, formal requirements, responsibilities of the drawee bank, presentation periods, concept of dishonored cheque, and its legal consequences; aval (guarantee) in bills of exchange.

| 5. | To be able to apply presentation periods of cheques, payment rules, and legal obligations of the drawee bank without error in banking applications. |
| 6. | To be able to explain the legal amounts that the bank is obliged to pay and the legal/criminal processes in case of dishonored cheques encountered in commercial life. |
| 7. | İngilizce: To be able to evaluate the functioning of aval (guarantee), which creates an element of trust in bills of exchange, and the statute of limitations periods of instruments in professional decisions. |
