Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to learn the fundamental mathematical concepts used in financial transactions, to correctly perform calculations such as simple and compound interest, types of interest, loan repayment plans, and basic financial calculations, and to acquire the knowledge and skills to solve basic financial problems they may encounter in banking and insurance using spreadsheet programs.

Course Content

The course covers fundamental concepts of financial mathematics, the time value of money, basic mathematical operations, simple and compound interest calculations, nominal and effective interest rates, loan repayment plans, loan closing calculations, and the application of spreadsheets (Excel) in financial calculations. The course is supported by applications and problem-solving activities related to fundamental financial calculations encountered in the banking and insurance sectors.
