Objectives of the Course

It aims to evaluate which diseases are within the scope of neurological rehabilitation and how these diseases affect the functional status of the patient, to evaluate the physical dimension of the health condition, to evaluate the quality of life in close relationship with it and to learn how to perform rehabilitation studies in this area.

Course Content

Approach to neurological patients, physical therapy in hemiplegic patients, physical therapy rehabilitation in traumatic brain injuries, physical therapy in spinal cord injury patients, physical therapy in neuromuscular diseases (ALS, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, etc.), physical therapy in peripheral nerve injuries, physical therapy rehabilitation in patients with multiple sclerosis, physical therapy rehabilitation in patients with Parkinson's disease.

Learning Outcomes
1.Students will gain knowledge about the clinical presentations seen in central nervous system diseases (hemiplegia, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease) and will know the physiotherapy methods that support sensory-motor development in these diseases.
2.They are knowledgeable about the basic physiotherapy approaches applied in upper and lower motor neuron diseases, neuropathies, and ALS neurological diseases.
3.They will gain knowledge about spinal cord injuries and spina bifida cases; and will be familiar with the physiotherapy approaches used in these conditions.
4.Peripheral nerve and brachial plexus injuries are treated, and physiotherapy methods that support sensory-motor development are discussed.
5.Knows the clinical symptoms of facial paralysis and the physiotherapy approaches used in its treatment.
