Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to comprehend the anatomy and joint biomechanics of the foot and ankle, as well as the biomechanics of gait and balance; to explain the biomechanical foundations of foot pathologies and pathological gait; and to develop the skills to perform assessments and interpretations based on this knowledge.

Course Content

The content of this course covers the definition and fundamental principles of biomechanics, foot and ankle anatomy, ankle joint biomechanics, the biomechanics of gait and balance, foot pathologies, and the biomechanical characteristics of pathological gait.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Explains the definitions and fundamental principles of biomechanics and foot biomechanics.
2.It describes the bone, joint, and soft tissue structures of the foot and ankle.
3.Defines and distinguishes the phases of the gait cycle and fundamental concepts related to balance.
4.It classifies foot pathologies and explains their fundamental biomechanical characteristics.
5.Distinguishes pathological gait patterns from normal gait.
