Genaral Informantion:
The Department of Psychology offers a 4-year (8 semesters) Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology, which seeks to develop an understanding and formulate explanations of human behaviour, focusing on the cognitive and psychological as well as the social and cultural aspects. The department covers the main areas of psychology, such as clinical, social, developmental, experimental, industrial/organisational and psychometrics.
History
Our History:
Our department was founded on 6 May 2005 and has been providing undergraduate and graduate courses to various departments of the university ever since. In the 2013-2014 academic year, we started graduate education by accepting our first students to the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Programme. As of the 2015-2016 academic year, undergraduate education has started in our department. Our department is led by a professor, two associate professors, six assistant professors and four research assistants. They are all experts in clinical, social, experimental psychology and developmental psychology. One of our colleagues will start working in our department after completing her postgraduate education at a different university within the scope of ÖYP.

Our Mission:
To train psychologists who have a basic knowledge of psychology and related fields, who can learn independently, who are open to self-improvement, and who can produce scientific knowledge in various fields of psychology and present it for the benefit of society and participate in its application.
Vision
Our Vision: Over the next 10 years, our aim is to become a department that uses contemporary teaching methods and trains psychologists who are capable of conducting research in local, national and international contexts and contributing to the application of psychological knowledge for the benefit of society.
Purpose
Aim: Upon completion of the Psychology degree, students will be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of the historical foundations, basic concepts and methodological perspectives of psychology as a scientific discipline understand and think critically about the basic theories and approaches of psychology have knowledge of the disciplines, basic research questions and specific research methods in psychology
have information and knowledge of psychology in applied settings, problems, research issues, research and developments in psychology in Turkey have knowledge of the principles of psychological assessment, commonly used psychological assessment instruments and be able to administer them at the beginner level have knowledge of basic interviewing skills used in different areas of psychology be able to carry out some psychological applications understand how to effectively monitor and communicate current knowledge in the field of psychology
have basic skills in formulating research questions, selecting appropriate research methods and measurement techniques in different areas of psychology have knowledge and basic skills in data collection, statistical analysis, interpretation of results and reporting techniques specific to psychology have an unbiased approach to areas of individual difference such as age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability and socio-economic status in psychological applications be aware of the importance of ethical principles and values specific to psychology and the importance of working with these principles and values.
Physical Infrastructure
Departmental Rooms:
The Department of Psychology is located on the 2nd floor of Block C in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences building. The department has five laboratories for teaching and research. In addition, the Department has one postgraduate classroom on the 2nd floor and two classrooms (CZ13 and CZ01) on the ground floor of Block C. There are three classrooms used for undergraduate education. Students have access to all social and cultural facilities on campus.

Technical Infrastructure:
All classrooms are equipped with computers, projectors and air conditioning. The undergraduate classrooms can accommodate between 90 and 100 students, while the postgraduate classrooms can accommodate 15 students.
