The aim of this course is to enable students to learn and use accurately, consistently, and academically the fundamental concepts, terminology, and technical expressions employed in the discipline of Archaeology in both Turkish and English. The course focuses on the understanding of terminology related to chronology, stratigraphy, archaeological surveys and excavations, architecture, ceramic, stone, and metal finds, production technologies, as well as religion and burial practices. In addition, it aims to develop students’ ability to interpret archaeological literature accurately, follow scientific publications, and effectively employ professional terminology in both academic writing and oral communication..
This course covers the introduction and explanation of the fundamental concepts and terminology used in the discipline of Archaeology. The course addresses key terms related to various subfields of archaeology, including stratigraphy, chronology, settlement archaeology, ceramic analysis, production technologies, architectural terminology, and burial practices. It aims to enable students to accurately understand archaeological literature, follow scientific publications, and use archaeological terminology correctly in an academic context. In addition, the course emphasises the impact of terminology on archaeological interpretation and scholarly communication.
