Objectives of the Course

Describing impacts of marine invasive and alien species on natural ecosystems, human health, and the socio-economy

Course Content

This course will provide information on alien species that have been transported from their natural habitats to distant ecosystems due to direct or indirect human influence, discuss the effects of invasive species on natural ecosystems and human health, and examine methods of preventing these species and relevant legal documents

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Defines basic concepts related to biological invasions
2.Explains the historical development of human-induced species transport
3.Identifies the primary pathways of introduction of invasive species
4.Explains the ecological, socioeconomic and human health impacts of invasive species
5.Compares international and national legislation provisions regarding invasive and alien marine species
6.Classifies the impacts of invasive species on the sustainability of natural resources
