Being a suitable scientific field for an interdisciplinary study , the Turkish Language and Literature, search the development of the Turkish language and literature from past to present. Acting in the historical and contemporary texts of Turkish language, it reveals the contribution of Turkish language to the culture of common humanity. For this, all the texts from "tamga"s to phonetic alphabet are examined and then consecutive and simultaneous evaluations are done . The masterpiece classics of world literature are dealt within all approaches mainly intertextuality.
History
The Department of Turkish Language and Literature, which was established in 1992 within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Aydın Adnan Menderes University, started its undergraduate education in the 1993-1994 academic year. Approximately 250-300 students study in the department, which had its first graduates in 1997. With the decision of the President taken in July 2022, our department provides education within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Department of Turkish Language and Literature trains qualified personnel who can conduct research in the fields of Turkish language, Turkish literature, Turkish folklore and Turkish culture, conducts various studies and researches and organizes them for publications, seminars, etc. It was established for the purpose of promoting it through various means. Undergraduate students of our department graduate from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature by completing the four-year elective and compulsory program. Our students, who have the opportunity to continue postgraduate education after graduation in our department, can become Turkish Language and Literature teachers in educational institutions, private schools and private teaching institutions within the Ministry of National Education, if they take the formation courses required for teaching. In addition, if they receive a certificate, they can find jobs as experts in state archives and libraries or as editors in media organs, because during their education they gain important equipment about Ottoman Turkish, different Turkish dialects, Turkish Literatures and Folk Literature.
There are 5 main science branches: Old Turkish Literature Department, New Turkish Literature Department, Turkish Folk Literature Department, Old Turkish Language Department, New Turkish Language Department, and there are master's and master's degrees within the Institute of Social Sciences. In our department, which accepts students for doctoral programs, there are three professors, six associate professors, three doctoral faculty members, one doctoral research assistant and one lecturer.
In our department, where the annual undergraduate student quota is 60, the language of instruction is Turkish and the duration of study is 8 semesters.
Mission
To raise graduates who are aware of the universality of Turkish culture, language and literature and the reasons for this universality, who can evaluate the development of the products of the field of Turkish Language and Literature from past to present, and who use their knowledge of Turkish Language and Literature for social benefit in the light of an interdisciplinary approach and technological developments.
Vision
To bring to light the values ????existing in ancient Turkish culture, language and literature; To reveal that universal culture is a whole with the findings obtained; To be a program beneficial to the society that provides education in the light of modern methods, theories and technological developments.
Purpose
1. Ability to transform knowledge in the field of Turkish Language and Literature into cultural acquisition and apply it to life
2. Ability to conduct scientific research on one's own; Ability to identify problems related to the field and develop new approaches to solve them
3. To be able to learn the basic rules of foreign languages ??sufficiently to deal with historical and current texts of Turkish.
4. Ability to internalize the principle of lifelong learning and follow current studies in the field of Turkish Language and Literature
5. Sharing his/her knowledge in the field with the society by using the communication technologies required by the Turkish Language and Literature program.
6.To be able to blend the theoretical and practical knowledge gained in the Turkish Language and Literature program with other fields.
Physical Infrastructure
Department of Turkish Language and Literature serves at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Our department has student and faculty exchange program agreements within the scope of Farabi, Mevlana and Erasmus. Students benefit from all social and cultural opportunities in the Campus area.
Technical Infrastructure
Turkish Language and Literature Department have 2 classrooms with computer and multimedia projector and 80 person capacity. The department also one 30 person capacity classroom.
