Objectives of the Course

Discussing Ancient Greek History in a chronological order with main themes for a better understanding of Modern Western Civilization. Besides underliying the fact that the birthplace of Ancient Greek Civilization was Western Anatolia.

Course Content

Knowledge of the Aegean civilizations that were formed by the peoples of Crete, Greece, Macedonia and western Anatolia and evaluation of their place within the History of Antiquity.

1. to be able to criticize Modern Western Civilization by knowing Ancient Greek History and Civilization.
2.to be able to show Western Anatolia as the birthplace of Ancient Greek Civilization.
3.to be able to imagine Western Anatolia as the homeland of first city states, first coinage and first natural philosophers .
4.to be able to explain why scientific thought was founded in Western Anatolia.
5.to be able to explain main issues of Ancient Greek History which has a backround of one millenium.
6. to be able to use personal and geographical names in accordance with Ancient Greek form.
