Objectives of the Course

Introducing Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Phoenician, Greek and Roman civilisations that shape the history of the Mediterranean.

Course Content

History of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Phoenicia, Greece, Rome in the context of general history of the Mediterranean.

1.to be able to explain the main environmental, socio-economic and cultural features that shaped the history of the ancient Mediterranean world.
2.to be able to identify the main cultures, States, and Empires that existed in the ancient Mediterranean world.
3.to be able to date key events that shaped the evolution of the ancient Mediterranean world.
4.to be able to locate on a map a selection of regions, geographical features and sites that played an important role in the history of the ancient Mediterranean world.
5.to be able to identify the different types of primary sources related to the ancient Mediterranean world.
6.to be able to explain the historical potential and limits of ancient primary sources.
