Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADU) Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (ITBF) Department of Philosophy undergraduate education is a “Normal Formal Education” program. The Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences provides undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education in a contemporary learning environment with the mission of educating individuals who have critical thinking, interpretation and research skills, who are open to different perspectives and opinions, who have academic ethical values and ethical relationship values, who are conscious of protecting human rights, who are willing to contribute to local and universal culture, who are aware of social problems and who can act with ethical responsibility in the face of problems. Aydın Adnan Menderes University Department of Philosophy, which was established in 1992 and started undergraduate education with 30 students in the 2006-2007 academic year, offers a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy to its graduates who can successfully complete their education within the framework of this mission. It is a program consisting of 4 years (8 semesters) of education and training of students who are placed and registered according to the results of the university selection and placement exam, Equal Weighted (EA) score type. Students who enroll in the Philosophy Undergraduate Program, successfully complete 240 ECTS and complete at least 2.50 GPA in accordance with Article 35 (1.) Paragraph (c) of the “Aydın Adnan Menderes University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education Regulations” are entitled to receive a “Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy”. Aydın Adnan Menderes University Department of Philosophy has a four-year undergraduate program in Turkish with the vision of educating individuals who are aware of social and global problems and ethical responsibility, who are aware of social and global problems, who have a command of philosophical literature, who have developed critical thinking, understanding, interpretation and connection skills in accordance with ethical personal values and relationship values. The academic staff of the department's four departments, namely Systematic Philosophy and Logic, History of Philosophy, History of Science and History of Turkish Islamic Thought, consists of 8 faculty members and 3 lecturers, each of whom are competent in their fields. The undergraduate program includes courses on reading the basic texts of philosophers in the history of philosophy, identifying the basic concepts of philosophers, comprehending the main basic problems of the field, as well as courses aimed at developing the ability to distinguish it from other fields.In this context, the department consists of compulsory courses such as Ontology, Epistemology, Ethics, Philosophy of Science, Logic, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Politics, Philosophy of Art, Philosophy of History, History of Turkish-Islamic Thought, History of Turkish-Islamic Thought, Human Rights and Philosophy Graduation Study, as well as courses such as Introduction to Critical Thinking, Mythology and Symbolic Language,It has a curriculum consisting of elective courses such as Classical Languages (Ancient Greek and Latin), The Problem of Freedom, Philosophy of Law, Philosophical Ecology, Philosophy of Mind, Applied Philosophy in the Public Sphere, Theories of Feminism in Philosophy, The Nature of Research in Philosophy, Professional Ethics and Philosophical Counseling. With such a curriculum, the department strives to provide its students with in-depth knowledge about the theories, concepts and problems in these fields and to provide them with the opportunity to make inquiries in accordance with its mission and vision. During the undergraduate program, students of the Department of Philosophy complete their formation education and support their personal development by taking elective courses from the departments of Sociology and Psychology as well as other departments they are interested in (such as archaeology, biology, art history). History
Aydın Adnan Menderes University Department of Philosophy was opened in accordance with Article 8, paragraph a of the Law No. 3837 dated 03.07.1992, which amended the Law No. 41 on the organization of the Council of Higher Education and the Decree Law No. 78 and 109, which entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette dated 11.07.1992 and numbered 21281. Founded in 1992 and started undergraduate education with 30 students in the 2006-2007 academic year, the Department of Philosophy continues its education and training with 200 undergraduate students as of 2024. Until 2022, the department, which was within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, was included in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, which was established on 26.07.2022 in accordance with the additional Article 30 of the Law No. 2809 on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions. The Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences provides undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education in a contemporary learning environment with the mission of educating individuals who have critical thinking, interpretation and research skills, who are open to different perspectives and opinions, who have academic ethical values and ethical relationship values, who are conscious of protecting human rights, who are willing to contribute to local and universal culture, who are aware of social problems and who can act with ethical responsibility in the face of problems. Since its foundation, the undergraduate curriculum of the Department of Philosophy has been based on the legislation, procedures and principles of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). In this context, the curriculum of the Department of Philosophy includes 2-year Master's and 4-year PhD programs in Turkish. Opened in 2010, the Master's program of the Department of Philosophy started its education and training activities with 7 Master's students in the 2010-2011 academic year and still continues its Master's education. In 2011, the department, which has a joint doctoral program with Pamukkale University Department of Philosophy, continues its education by opening its own doctoral program in 2022. There are a total of four branches of science, namely Systematic Philosophy and Logic, History of Philosophy, History of Turkish Islamic Thought and History of Science, and the faculty members are sufficient and competent in terms of quantity and quality. The program of the department, which has 8 faculty members and 3 lecturers, includes courses aimed at reading the basic texts of philosophers in the history of philosophy and determining their basic concepts, understanding the main basic problems of the field, as well as courses aimed at developing the ability to distinguish them from other fields.

Vision
Aydın Adnan Menderes University Department of Philosophy continues its four-year undergraduate education program with the vision of raising individuals who are aware of social and global problems and ethical responsibilities in accordance with ethical personal values and relationship values, have a command of philosophical literature, have developed critical thinking, understanding, interpretation and connection skills, and are aware of social and global problems and ethical responsibilities.In this context, in addition to courses aimed at reading the basic texts of philosophers and identifying their basic concepts, comprehending the main basic problems of the field, it also offers courses aimed at developing the ability to distinguish them from other fields.
Purpose
