Objectives of the Course

To enable students to gain an understanding of optical phenomena by using the concepts of light rays and wave surfaces.

Learning Outcomes
1.Can distinguish between light rays and light waves.
2.Be able to express the laws of reflection and show the reflection of light rays from plane and spherical surfaces with appropriate drawings.
3.Be able to express the laws of refraction and show the refraction of light rays from plane and spherical surfaces with suitable drawings.
4.Can define the refractive index and give characteristic values ??for glass, air and water.
5.Can define the critical angle and total internal reflection at the interface of two transparent media.
6.Be able to describe the interference and diffraction of light.
