Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to analyze the rewritings of canonical works of English literature and to develop students’ critical thinking ability by analyzing the themes and subject matter underlined in the rewritings.

Course Content

In this course, canonical works of English literature and their contemporary rewritings will be analyzed comparatively.

1.1. To learn the historical development of comparative literature as a separate discipline and to gain theoretical knowledge about this field.
2.2. To develop an intercultural perspective by analyzing the rewritings of canonical literary works.
3.3. To have awareness as to different cultures, traditions and literatures.
4.4. To identify and analyze the implicit and explicit meanings of a literary text.
5.5. To approach a text critically and make logical deductions based on textual evidences.
