Teaching techniques for conveying the same meaning through different sentence structures when translating Turkish texts into English; providing students with opportunities to apply these techniques; demonstrating, through practical exercises, the benefits of these techniques for the translation of various literary genres, such as novels and short stories; and illustrating, by means of several methods, how interpretive elements may be incorporated into a translation without altering the original meaning.
Expressing the same meaning through different sentence structures (paraphrasing); examining the degrees and limits of interpretive intervention in translation; analyzing the adverse effects of arbitrary lexical choices in the target language and emphasizing the importance of contextually appropriate word choice (collocation); and carrying out a translation practice based on a selected passage from a classic work of English literature.
