Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide an overview of Greek mythology, compare it with Turkish and Roman mythologies, examine their similarities and differences, demonstrate through representative examples how these mythological traditions contribute to students' understanding of the world and the development of their artistic perspective, and explain the underlying causes of the remarkable similarities and common motifs found among these mythologies through the archetypal theory of Analytical Psychology.

Course Content

This course compares Greek mythology with Turkish and Roman mythologies, focusing on their similarities, differences, and shared motifs. Through representative myths, students explore the cultural, historical, and artistic significance of these traditions and their influence on literature, art, and the understanding of human experience. The course also introduces the archetype theory of Analytical Psychology as a framework for interpreting the remarkable similarities and common elements found across different mythological traditions.
