Belagat aims to convey accumulated thoughts according to the exigencies of the situation and place, teaching the presentation of ideas in various expressions and styles within specific methods and rules. It seeks to impact the interlocutor with a flawless form in terms of wording, superior in meaning, and harmonious in structure. The Arabic Language and Eloquence I course aims to instill this mission in students.
The Arabic Language and Eloquence I course will cover topics in the science of meanings (??? ???????) and examples from poetry and prose.
| 1. | It explains the styles of narration and composition and their differences. |
| 2. | It elucidates the purposes of narration. |
| 3. | It enumerates the main parts of composition. |
| 4. | It clarifies in which contexts styles like command (emir), prohibition (nehiy), and interrogation (istifham) are used, apart from their literal meanings. |
| 5. | It describes what chapter (fasıl) and section (vasl) are and their principal uses. |
| 6. | It elucidates the concepts of conciseness (icaz-itnab) and parallelism (musavat) with examples, and compares them. |
| 7. | It explains the topics encountered using simple and intermediate examples of poetry and prose. |
| 8. | They know the elements and parts of metaphor (teşbih). |
| 9. | They understand the concepts of rhetoric (belagat), eloquence (fesahat), and style (üslup), and gain general knowledge about the contents of expression (beyan), meaning (meani), and novelty (bedi) relationships. |
