Objectives of the Course

The aim of Calligraphy Art - II is to expand and deepen students’ foundational knowledge of calligraphy by focusing on modern, digital, and experimental approaches. Within this scope, the course aims for students to comparatively analyze traditional and contemporary forms of calligraphy, understand its connections with typography, graphic design, and contemporary art, and evaluate current trends in calligraphy in terms of cultural sustainability and aesthetic interpretation.

Course Content

The course begins with the definition of modern calligraphy and its distinctions from traditional approaches, then moves on to topics such as composition design, visual language, relations with typography, and the use of digital tools. Key themes include the role of calligraphy in graphic design, its integration with contemporary art, global calligraphy cultures, and socially engaged applications. The course also explores new teaching methods in calligraphy, artist case studies, and the interplay between aesthetics and meaning. It concludes with an evaluation of emerging trends and the cultural sustainability of calligraphy in the contemporary art world.
