Objectives of the Course

To analyze the economic dynamics and consequences of technological development in the context of different economic theories; to reveal the theoretical background of the relationship between development and industrialization in EMEs and science-technology policies.

Course Content

Technology policy includes National Innovation Systems, Industrial and Technology Policies, International Competitiveness and Technology Factor and topics within this scope.

Learning Outcomes
1.Students will learn the Neoclassical, Marxist and Schumpeterian approaches to the conceptualization of technology and technological development.
2.Students will learn R&D support as a technology policy and intellectual and industrial property rights.
3.Students will be able to compare the development of industrial and technological policies in Turkey with the science, technology and industrial policies of the European Union.
4.Students will be able to comprehend the importance of the technology factor in achieving international competitiveness and will be able to make comparative analysis between countries.
5.Students will have knowledge about the emerging sectors in Turkey and will be able to recognize the importance of technological elements in these sectors.
