This course aims to teach the economic dimensions of environmental problems and the fiscal policy instruments used to address them. It provides students with knowledge of the fundamental concepts of environmental economics, environmental externalities, and sustainable development principles. The role of environmental taxes, carbon taxes, emissions trading systems, and other fiscal instruments in achieving environmental objectives is examined. Furthermore, national and international fiscal policies for combating climate change are evaluated.
The course begins with the fundamental concepts of environmental economics and environmental externalities. The efficient use of natural resources, sustainable development, and the economic effects of environmental policies are examined. Fiscal instruments such as environmental taxes, carbon taxes, subsidies, and emissions trading systems are discussed in detail. Climate change, energy policies, and green transition processes are evaluated from an economic perspective. In addition, international environmental agreements and practical examples of environmental fiscal policies are analyzed.
