The aim of this course is to examine the interrelationship between economics and politics within a historical and theoretical framework. The aim is to introduce students to different approaches to political economy and, through these approaches, to develop the ability to analyze contemporary economic and social problems.
The course examines theoretical frameworks ranging from classical political economy to Marxist political economy, public choice theory, and institutional approaches. It focuses on the role of the state in the economy, income distribution, globalization, development, crises, and current political economy debates. Students learn to evaluate the interaction between economy and politics in light of historical examples and contemporary events.
