Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to introduce the student to the basic discussions in the epistemology.

Course Content

The definition of knowledge, the problem of knowledge in ancient philosophy, the problem of knowledge in Islamic thought, the contemporary discussions about epistemology

1.The student learns the major philosophers of epistemology and their ideas.
2.The student acquires knowledge of the central problems in the epistemology and possible solutions to them.
3.The student acquires the ability to recognize in which scientific and other contexts the central problems in the epistemology arise.
4.The student compares and contrasts different theories of the epistemology.
5.The student uses terminology from the epistemology.
6.The student discusses contemporary ethical, political, and cultural issues related to the epistemology
7.The student understands key philosophical concepts such as inductive reasoning, verification, explanation, and natural law.
