Objectives of the Course

To inform students in general terms about the studies carried out in the field of hadith and sunnah in the last two centuries, the 19th and 20th centuries, in the Islamic World and the West.

Course Content

In this course, orientalist studies in the field of hadith in Turkey, various regions of the Islamic World, the Indian Subcontinent and the West will be discussed through symbols and influential names.

Learning Outcomes
1.Recognizes the hadith studies carried out in Turkey, other parts of the Islamic world, the Indian Subcontinent and the West from the beginning to the present day.
2.It compares the differences in hadith studies both within the same region and between regions.
3.It distinguishes scholars who have come to the fore with their studies in the field of hadith in the modern period.
4.Evaluates the works of Orientalists and their impact on the Islamic world.
5.Analyzes the attitudes of different scientific traditions in the Islamic world towards hadith.
