Objectives of the Course

In this course, the concepts, topics and sources related to the history and methodology of tafsir are examined and it is aimed to evaluate the accumulation of knowledge and methodology in these fields in accordance with scientific principles. It is aimed to cic aspects in terms of content and method, and a scientifically based tafsir formation that includes the information, approaches, solutions and methods needed in the face of today's religious and social problems is among the main objectives of the course.reate a solid tafsir culture and methodology by addressing the approaches, schools and methods that emerged during the historical development process of tafsir. In this context, in the process of understanding and interpreting the Qur'ân al-kerîm, the different approaches and principles of tafsir adopted by the commentators in line with the periodical needs and problems will be evaluated. In addition, important personalities, thought movements and schools that stand out in the course of fourteen centuries of tafsir history will be introduced with their characterist

Course Content

n this course, the basic information necessary for the understanding of the Qur'an is given and the fact that it is a divine source is given to the students. The reasons for the emergence of tafsir are comprehended and information about the different trends in the process of understanding the Qur'an is presented. Information on classical and modern tafsir movements has been given and strong bridges have been established between these two periods of tafsir. Seljuk and Ottoman tafsir thought is analyzed. Basic information about different approaches, movements and schools on the understanding and interpretation of the Qur'an together with its nature has been covered. In addition to these, a sound methodology of tafsir has been established based on the scientific principles and principles taken as basis in the process of understanding and interpreting the Qur'ân al-kerîm. The concepts, subjects and sources related to the history and methodology of tafsir have been examined in detail and the accumulation of knowledge and methodology in this field has been identified. Thus, the principles, principles and systems adopted in the 14-century historical development process of the Holy Qur'an have been analyzed and the issues that will contribute to the correct understanding of the Qur'an today have been emphasized.

10.To be familiar with the debates on the method of tafsir in the modern period.
11.Knows the differences between Kavâidü't-tefsir, ulûmu'l-Qur'ân and the method of tafsir.
12.Gains the ability to transfer the high moral and spiritual values brought by the Qur'an to the contemporary world.
13.The student becomes aware that the Qur'an is the absolute truth and its interpretations are conditionally true and gains the habit of being selective accordingly.
14.The student comprehends that the Qur'an, as a divine book, gives messages on a universal scale.
