Objectives of the Course

The course on the History of Islamic Sects aims to provide an understanding of the origins, development processes, core doctrines, and historical impact of the political, theological, and jurisprudential sects that emerged throughout Islamic intellectual history. It seeks to enable students to evaluate the emergence of these sects within their proper historical context, comprehend the differences among them, and analyze the reflections of these differences in the contemporary Islamic world.

Course Content

Religion-state relations in the Middle East geography are quite intense. The balance of politics, economy, social structure and regional relations largely depends on this. Understanding this rich network of relations, which are carried out through open and hidden sectarian agendas, will make a great contribution to the discipline of international relations.

5.Sect/politics relations, cultural continuousness, global priciples, differences between local considerations is comprehended
6.The different religiousness models that the sects provide is discussed and learned
7.The belief, statistical and geographical conditions of sects having communities is learned
8.The expansion efforts of Islamic sects and their cultural and literal efforts in modern time is grasped
9.The effects of sects in modern political events are discussed and learned
10.The association of secterian identity and local belongness, the religious, sociala and political structures formed in this framework is discussed and apprehended
