Objectives of the Course

It is aimed to integrate the theoretical, practical, clinical skills and panels in the course committee with the anatomical, histological, physiological and biochemical aspects of the digestive system. To teach the students the anatomical and histological structure and function relationships of metabolism and gastrointestinal system. It is aimed to learn the normal structure and function of the human digestive system at the cell-tissue-organ and system level and the metabolic processes necessary to maintain the vitality of the human organism, the physiological and biochemical properties of digestion and energy metabolism. Also, it is aimed to learn the relationship of these systems with other systems. Congenital and acquired diseases related to the gastrointestinal system and metabolism will also be discussed.

Learning Outcomes
1.Describes the motility, blood flow and neural control of the gastrointestinal system by associating them with each other and explains the mechanism of the digestive tract secretion and absorption processes.
2.Understand the main hormone secretion and action mechanisms in the digestive system, and its effects on the target organ and metabolism.
3.Distinguish the structural features of cells, tissues and organs of the digestive system and related glands and these features in microscopic examinations,
4.Explains the embryological development of the digestive system and associates it with the causes of developmental disorders
5.Knows the basic information about the clinical situation and diseases in which the normal functioning of the digestive system is impaired
