Objectives of the Course

It is planned that the students will adapt the theoretical and practical knowledge they have acquired in the previous periods to the clinic and to see the art of medicine in practice, especially in the pediatric patient. During this internship period, students; To communicate with patients and their relatives at a professional level, to learn the pathophysiology and clinical characteristics of pediatric and neonatal genitourinary, gastrointestinal and thoracic system diseases, to establish pathophysiological connections between all these system pathologies, to diagnose and evaluate diseases at the general practitioner level, especially in primary care services The aim is to gain the ability to organize first-line treatments and to direct patients to the right places in the right way.

Course Content

During this internship period, students; to communicate with patients and their relatives at a professional level, to learn the pathophysiology and clinical features of pediatric and neonatal genitourinary, gastrointestinal, thoracic system diseases, to establish pathophysiological connections between all these system pathologies

1.* To suspect of invagination, to be able to diagnose it, to plan it correctly if referral is necessary To be able to make and interpret the history and physical examinations of these patients, * To know and interpret radiological imaging methods required for diagnosis, * Learning the principles of treatment after diagnosis
2.* Understanding the embryological bases of intestinal development and rotation, * To be able to recognize the clinical findings in pathological conditions in bowel rotation anomalies and to distinguish their urgency, * To be able to interpret the physical examination and radiological findings in malrotation, to make differential diagnosis, * To be able to identify these patients in primary care and to plan their referral appropriately,

4.* To comprehend the embryological bases of esophageal development and developmental anomalies, the basic pathophysiology of these developmental anomalies, * Diagnosing this developmental anomaly in antenatal and neonatal periods and understanding what should be done in emergency intervention, * Understanding how and where the birth of these patients should be done and how to plan this correctly,
5.* Evaluating and suspecting the examinations and tests in the differential diagnosis of abdominal pains due to surgery, making the diagnosis, planning it correctly if necessary To be able to make and interpret anamnesis and physical examinations of these patients, * To know and interpret radiological imaging methods required for diagnosis, * To learn the beginning of emergency fluid replacement, nasogastric insertion after diagnosis, and the principles of treatment.
