Objectives of the Course

To train individuals who can act as required, to be able to make decisions in pre-diagnosis, differential diagnosis in surgical patients in their daily professional life and attitudes, to be able to follow and refer to a specialist when necessary, and to observe professional ethics and ethics, which they are equipped with theoretically about surgery.

1.Reviewing the information learned in General Surgery courses and internships during the previous teaching life and revising patient-based clinical practices, if necessary in the operating room
2.Understanding the effect of surgical anatomy on the clinic by recognizing it with a different eye in terms of "functional anatomy"
3.Making the patient's history taken with propedetic information applicable by focusing on surgical problems
4.General examination and abdominal examination, breast examination, thyroid and inguinal region examination. Keeping in mind the situations that may be overlooked especially by non-surgical physicians (hernia strangulation, etc.). Making anal and rectal examinations a routine, regardless of the patient's complaints, especially in patients in the risk group.
5.To be able to select pre-diagnoses and differential diagnoses after physical examination and vital signs, and to request necessary tests. Proper triage of the patient with the awareness that unnecessary examinations will also cause loss of time in surgical diseases.
6.Providing information to patients and their relatives about the disease, its risks, and if surgery is required, its risks. Informing the patient about the special conditions that may arise before and after the surgery without departing from the scientific attitude while giving this information.
7.To be able to interpret whole blood, biochemistry, urine tests, blood gas and direct radiographs in postoperative or emergency surgery patients. To understand how the surgical treatment of the patient is shaped with other conventional radiological examinations (USG, CT, MRI).
8.To be able to establish vascular access, to take blood and to have a command of central catheter insertion indications.
9.To be able to insert urine catheter and nasogastric catheter. Detection of how long probes will remain and withdrawal when necessary.
10.Measuring blood pressure, taking blood gas and blood culture, dressing. Haemodynamic monitoring of the patient and being sensitive about the precursors of the shock picture.
11.Participating in daily visits and commenting on the prognosis of the patient during visits. Perceiving and applying surgical visit principles and hierarchy.
12.Performing breast examination, abdominal examination and thyroid examination in the polyclinic To be able to interpret, to know when to refer to an expert. Especially breast Identifying the patients in the risk group and teaching the method of breast self-examination. Follow-up of breast patients in accordance with international guidelines.
13.Entering the surgery like a junior research assistant in the operating room, being a part of it and seeing the patient as part of the team during surgery. Following the patient in the postoperative period and gaining responsibility.
