Objectives of the Course

The purpose of the family medicine internship; It is for the intern students to define the basic features of family medicine practice in the primary level of the health system, the clinical approach of family medicine and the main duties of the family physician and to state their importance, and to gain the basic competence regarding the practice of family medicine.

Course Content

Interviewing skills are the overlap between clinical skills and communication skills. A successful interview requires clinical knowledge and skills, as well as specific skills such as the strategy of managing the interview, the ability to recognize and solve problems, and to ensure that the patient adopts the management plan, and the ability to observe what is happening during the interview. The basic competencies of the physician regarding the patient interview process are: - Creating a suitable conversation environment - Revealing the reasons for the patient's arrival - Knowing the patient - Identifying patient problems - taking medical history - Problem solving and patient management - Evaluating care opportunities - Using the conversation effectively

Learning Outcomes
1.Define the expectations from family medicine in primary care and develop an attitude to meet them Explain the "care cycle" associated with the process of health deterioration of the individual and discuss its importance. Must enumerate and adopt the main duties of the physician in a patient-doctor meeting Define and apply the rules of giving and receiving feedback as an effective learning method
2.To be able to explain the concepts of health promotion and disease prevention Explain and adopt case detection and screening strategies Define the concept of periodic health care and differentiate it from "check-up". The Ministry of Health should be able to define and implement the National Cancer Screening Standards
3.The family doctor should adopt the duties of questioning smoking To be able to make brief clinical interventions for smokers Be able to identify smokers' motivations to quit smoking Can explain 5P and TERKET approaches
4.Describe the family physician's duties related to the increase of blood pressure. Can explain the diagnosis process of hypertension and diagnose hypertension To be able to plan drug and non-drug treatments of hypertensive patients Should be able to monitor the hypertensive patient Define the criteria for referral of hypertensive patients to secondary care.
5.Identify clinical predictive patterns of Group A Streptococcal (GAS) pharyngitis To be able to explain the treatment goals in GAS tonsillopharyngitis To be able to apply family medicine clinical approach to a patient presenting with sore throat
