Objectives of the Course

To enable them to grasp the basic principles of healthy and balanced nutrition; to evaluate the importance of nutrients, food groups, and especially animal-based foods in nutrition; and to gain basic knowledge and awareness about safe food consumption, basic food hygiene, appropriate preservation methods, correct interpretation of food labels, and relevant legislation.

Course Content

Principles of healthy and balanced nutrition, nutrients and food groups, nutrition throughout different stages of life, the nutritional importance of foods of animal origin, safe food consumption, domestic food hygiene, food preservation methods, evaluation of food labels, basic food legislation, food fraud and adulteration, and current approaches to nutrition.
