Objectives of the Course

Providing basic concepts relevant to engineering materials, and ability of evaluation and selection of materials based on its properties and service conditions

1.Understand the importance of phase concept and phase diagrams, and use them.
2.Describe structures of metallic materials and their effects on mechanical properties.
3.Describe structures of ceramic materials and polymers and their effects on mechanical properties as well as production methods.
4.Understand the importance of phase concept and phase diagrams, and use them.
5.Have the knowledge to design a heat treatment procedure to achieve desired mechanical properties in a metallic material by using modified phase diagrams.
