Objectives of the Course

Determining stages of location survey and design of highway with all aspects.

Course Content

Distribution of contour maps, calculation of project traffic, selection of highway geometric standards, preparing of griddled contour map, grade line survey, route location survey, provisional plan and profile, calculations of vertical curve, pavement design and drawing of typical cross-section, introduction of economic analysis, approximately volume sheet design, economic analysis and selection of the feasible route location, calculation of final center line, drawing of transition curve and super-elevation details, final plan and road profile, drawing of super-elevation diagrams on the profile, drawing of cross-sections and calculation of their areas, volume sheet design, project file submission.

1.Gaining engineering knowledge and skills about highway route selection, horizontal and vertical curve designs
2.Gaining the ability to make calculations related to earthwork by drawing cross sections of the highway route
3.Mass haul balancing for the highway construction, gaining the ability to select the appropriate construction equipment
4.Gaining the ability to create technical drawings within the framework of highway design in computer environment and to present them in printed form in scale
5.Gaining the ability to present the results of the highway design project in a report structure
