Objectives of the Course

To provide knowledge and skills regarding water quality, water resources, hydraulic principles, population projections, water demand, design criteria, and practical considerations from the source to the settlement, as well as the design of drinking water distribution networks, pipelines, valves, and equipment.

Course Content

Properties of drinking and domestic water / Determining water demand / Population projection methods / Designs based on the water source / Design criteria for transmission lines / Reservoirs / Analysis and design of water distribution networks / Pipes, valves, and network components.

Learning Outcomes
1.Knowledge of population estimation methods, flow characteristics, project duration and water consumption for the design of infrastructure systems.
2.Knowledge of the use of surface and groundwater resources and groundwater hydraulics.
3.Projecting the supply of drinking water to the city using the principles of transmission and storage of water, cross-section and hydraulic principles.
4.Ability to design drinking water networks using different iteration methods.
5.Ability to make water treatment design calculations.
6.To have knowledge about the sustainable use of water resources.
