Objectives of the Course

To present a wide range of basic math knowledge about arithmetic, numbers, number systems, operations with number systems and relation and data to the classroom teacher candidates to develop their mathematic content knowledge.

Course Content

Definition of mathematics, the relationship with other disciplines. Sets and operations with sets. Setting up the number system, the natural numbers, integers. Divisibility rules, concepts and applications of LCM and the GCD. Ratio, proportion, ratio concepts and applications of the compound ratios. Real numbers, exponential numbers and root numbers. Cartesian product, relation, function, operation concepts, and their graphic representations. Equivalence and order relations. Data collection, summarizing data, graphic display, central tendency (mean, mode, median), measures of distribution (range, absolute deviation, standard deviation).

1.To be able to comprehend number systems with using properties of systems and doing operations on them.

5.To be able to employ the language of mathematics in his/her homework and communicate with other teacher candidates.
