Objectives of the Course

In this course, students are to understand the physical and geographical features of Turkey which allow for the country's geo-economic and geopolitical position.

Course Content

Turkey's location, and Turkey's geopolitical and geo-strategic situation and its characteristics, characteristics of mathematical location, specific location characteristics (neighbors), characteristics of groups of countries (political, military, economic, cultural organizations). Turkey's physical characteristics (climate, hydrographic features, soil type, vegetation), socio-economic characteristics (population, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, energy, industry, transport, tourism) and environmental problems in Turkey.

1.To be able to comprehend the concepts of geopolitics and geostrategy
2.To be able to learn the geopolitical position of Turkey
3.To be able to association a connection between the human and physical factors
4.To be able to comment on Turkey's location using the principles of geography
5.To be able to use mapping skills practically
6.To be able to have knowledge of basic concepts and theories in general education, special education theory and practice as a subject area, and this knowledge will contribute to a comprehensive and updated information to the different disciplines.
7.To be able to prepare carry out projects focused on solution of social problems so as to contribute the school-community cooperation
8.To be able to examine field studies with the scientific point of view

Geological and land features in the country according to the development of the geological times: the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, Tertiary and Quaternary.
Week 3 - Theoretical
Geomorphological features of Turkey: internal and external forces shaping the land, karst coastal topography, topography of the arid and semi-arid regions,
Week 4 - Theoretical
Climate in Turkey: Turkey's climate and regional factors, affecting the planetary climate elements, types of climate
Week 5 - Theoretical
Hydrographic properties in Turkey: Turkey streams, river regimes, hydrography basins, lakes, groundwater sources
Week 6 - Theoretical
The soils in Turkey: the factors affecting soil formation, soil types, main soil problems.
Week 7 - Theoretical
Vegetation characteristics of Turkey: Turkey's natural plant communities, forest, bush and grass formations.
Week 8 - Theoretical
Natural disasters in Turkey: Location-based natural disasters, acts of atmospheric origin, reducing the effects of natural disasters.

Turkey's Population and Population census the causes of, population growth, population distribution, and density, characteristics of the population in Turkey, and the sectoral distribution of active population, rural and urban population, population movements.

Settlement in Turkey: the definition and classification of the settlement, settlement history, the sub-village, rural and urban settlements, according to the functional characteristics of the cities, the problems caused by rapid urbanization, housing types
