Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable prospective teachers to understand the basic concepts related to curriculum and curriculum development, philosophical approaches, principles associated with learning theories, and models of curriculum development and evaluation. The course also aims to help prospective teachers examine the development of science curricula in Türkiye, analyze the 2013 and 2017 science curricula, and develop a critical perspective on the curriculum development process.

Course Content

This course covers the basic concepts related to curriculum and curriculum development, the principles of curriculum development, learning theories, and philosophical approaches. Throughout the course, curriculum development models, curriculum design and design models, curriculum development approaches implemented in Türkiye, and the historical development of science curricula are examined. In addition, the science curricula are evaluated in terms of their components, while the curriculum development process, curriculum evaluation approaches, and ways of ensuring curriculum continuity are discussed.
