Objectives of the Course

To teach students about phonetics and phonetics, the structure of the word, the types of words, the elements of the sentences and the basic features of the types of oral expression in Turkish. To enable students to acquire academic writing skills.

Course Content

Explanation of phonology and phonetic events, words in terms of structure (root, body, suffix concepts), meaning and function (nouns, noun phrases, adjectives, adjective phrases, pronouns, adverbs, prepositions, verbs, gerunds, verbs). Syntax (predicate, subject, subject-verb conformity, definite object, indefinite object, indirect object, adverb complement), processing of sentence types. Explaining the types of oral expression (conference, speech, oratory, statement, interview, paper, notification, panel, forum, symposium, etc.). Academic language and features of writing (articles, reports and scientific abstracts, etc.), writing claims, propositions and processing the formal features of scientific reports and articles. Lecturing and practice on report writing, explanation, discussion, establishing relationships between texts, citing references (citing citations and footnotes, creating a bibliography). Demonstrating title writing, summarizing, writing keywords, ethical principles to be considered in scientific writings and academic writing practices.
